Facts About Fleas

Fleas...What are they?

Besides being a great nuisance, fleas are little wingless insects who can cause rashes in many people and transfer bacterial diseases to humans with the saliva secreted during their unfelt bite.  With hard dark reddish brown bodies, fleas have mouths made for biting and sucking.  These jumping machines have spikes on their backs, and survive off of the blood of living beings.  Different fleas feed off of different organisms, and can survive in a house all year round.

Fleas... How do I get rid of them?  Flea Killing Options:

Kill Fleas Dead:

Cost per Application:  Frontline cost between $12-$14 per application (used once per month for best results).

Flea Bomb:

How to Use:  It would be wise to flea-dip your pets before use of the bomb, so that they do not return via your pet's coat.  You must remove all low hanging furniture, uncovered foods, pots and pans, pets, and yourselves from the area that will be affected by the bomb.  Different bombs cover different amounts of area, so you will need to buy enough bombs to cover the amount of space you desire to be covered.  Once you have placed the bomb on and surrounded by newspaper, follow the directions needed to set it off.  Do not return to your house for the amount of time listed on the bomb.  Return home and use fans and open windows to air your house out while you leave for a second time.  When you return for good, dispose of the bomb and newspaper, and begin vacuuming and wiping all surfaces, especially pots or pans that remained in the house during the bomb.

Frequency of Use:  Sometimes your first bomb will not work, and you will have to buy more than one.  If you have cleaned off all the residue from the bomb as instructed, then your house will stay flea free until something or someone traipses into your house with them again, but more expensive bombs can keep your house flea free for a number of months.

Cost per Application:  One bomb can cost anywhere from $12 to $143, depending on how much coverage you want, and how long you want its effects to last.
